Book Travelers is a community-focused EAST project designed to bring the joy and importance of reading directly to the people who need it most. Arkansas High School students will work together to collect, organize, promote, and distribute books throughout the Texarkana community.

Our students will partner with schools, organizations, businesses, and community members to collect new and gently used books. We will then identify areas where access to books and literacy resources may be limited and take our project on the road. Through pop-up book giveaways and community events, Book Travelers will place books directly into the hands of children, teenagers, families, and anyone with a desire to read.

Students will be responsible for every part of the project, including planning events, creating promotional materials, organizing books, communicating with community partners, coordinating transportation, and interacting with community members. Students will use creativity, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, project management, and technology skills throughout the process.

While Book Travelers is open to everyone, our primary focus will be children and teenagers. We want to create positive reading experiences and show young people that books can be a source of knowledge, imagination, adventure, and opportunity.

Our goal is simple: get more books into more hands. If we can give one child a book and inspire them to open it, read it, and discover something new, then we have made an impact.

Read. Explore. Travel. Repeat.
